Lovelorn

There was a wee girl
of the elven kin
Who, being young,
let the wrong one in

She walked through the woods
to the waters clear
Where she saw a young elf boy
who was standing near

It took her a day,
she tried through the night,
But she couldn't put to rest
that wonderful sight

So she went to her elders,
asking: 'Who is he?'
They said to forget him,
'He's the king-to-be.'

She heard not their warning,
she sought for her love
Not knowing the spell cast
by spirits above

Remember the girl
of the elven kin,
The one who let love
grow under her skin.
